About the program
The Edmonton Youth Orchestra's Conducting Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for advanced music students or emerging conductors to gain hands-on experience with a full symphony orchestra. Ideal applicants are post-secondary students in music programs who have a strong foundation in conducting, rehearsal techniques, and orchestral repertoire.
Interns will:
- Assist the Music Director in rehearsals
- Conduct the orchestra in sectional or full rehearsals (as appropriate)
- Receive feedback and mentorship
- Learn the behind-the-scenes work of a professional-level ensemble
Interns must be reliable, well-prepared, and comfortable working with young musicians in a collaborative, educational setting. The position runs through the orchestra season and includes both Intermediate and Senior Orchestra rehearsals.
